Day 4 Up, Up and Over

We left the Lazy Days RV Park and continued along HWY 126 gradual incline at first, about 65 degrees and overcast. Pete rode with us today and Barb scouted out sights and camp ground info. At the 15 mile mark we came across a natural hot spring beside the river, just a little way off the road in the woods. This necessitated a stop for a quick soak. Then a long, long gradual climb up to Santiam Pass. We couldn't take McKenzie Pass as the road was closed. We climbed FOREVER gaining 3700 ft to cross Santiam Pass at 4817. Then a terrific 6 mid downhill. Barb had checked out some campgrounds and discovered they were very primitive and the lodge was really expensive and we heard thunder! So onto Sisters... An Canadian century... 62 miles. Cute hotel Korean food for dinner and a ping pong tournament at the cafe. A good day PS ... Cheryl and Jackie are doing the blogs for us I can't get the website to work so I email them ... Thank you

  1. Sounds like you are having a good time so far. A hot spring!!! What a great find, perfect for the sore muscles. And we bet it feels good to have a good long climb behind you. Reading every day, even if not chiming in with gratuitous commentary. Say hi to Barb and Pete for us -- the fun support team we know.

PS., book arrived, thanks. We had forgotten that it doesn't include profiles of each day's ride which is a major flaw or advantage depending on your view about surprises. But it will be great to follow along.
