Lowell to Powell Idaho 66 miles
A nice ride today along the Clearwater and Lochsa Rivers. Uphill all day and a nice tailwind. Had breakfast with a guy our age from Switzerland, who was doing the Lewis and Clark route. He started out with 3 other guys and they all dropped out for various health reasons... Old guys.
As of yesterday, we have been cycling for 14 days so a few stats:
**total miles: 675
**cost per day: $70 or so
**flats: 0
**motels: 6
**rainy days: 6
**animals: 13 deer, 2 coyote pups, lots of birds

Re "old guys", there is a 4 man team in the Race Across America in the over 75+ age group ( actual ages 73, 75, 77 and 85!) and are averaging 14.99 mph having ridden 2458 plus miles so far. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just discovered reading the RAAM web site, that the solo riders (both male and female) have to average 10 mph all the way across the country in order not to be disqualified.
Those old Swiss guys can be tenacious.
ReplyDeleteI saw a wild turkey on my ride home the other day. That was a new one for me.
